Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am working to ensure that federal nutrition programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) serve those who need them most, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and support stronger, healthier communities across Virginia.
For seniors living on fixed incomes, individuals with disabilities, and families facing difficult circumstances, rising everyday expenses can make those choices all too real. That is why programs like SNAP play an important role in helping our most vulnerable populations access nutritious food when they need assistance.
That means ensuring SNAP remains available for those who rely on it while strengthening program integrity and helping able-bodied adults find pathways toward employment and greater self-sufficiency.
Local food banks, churches, nonprofits, and volunteers across Virginia's First District also do tremendous work every day to make sure our neighbors don't go hungry. The federal government should be a responsible partner in those efforts—not stand in their way.
I recently visited Feed More food bank in Glen Allen to see the great work being done there. It was wonderful to see the dedication of the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that our Virginians have access to nutritious food.
I remain committed to supporting food security for all Americans, stewarding taxpayer dollars well, and the safety net for those who truly need it.

Sincerely,

Rob Wittman
Member of Congress, Virginia’s 1st District
